A US airstrike has killed 11 supporters of the Daesh terror group in eastern Afghanistan, local police said Thursday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A drone launched the attack on a group of Daesh loyalists in the Nangarhar province on the border with Pakistan, the Afghan news agency Khaama Press cited a statement by provincial police as saying.
Police said there were no reports about civilian casualties. According to the agency, US forces are operating from an Afghan base.
Daesh gained a foothold in Afghanistan after infighting between Taliban factions broke out in 2015. The group occupies a small territory inside Afghanistan but has carried out a number of attacks against civilians.
