News Report: Philippine Police Disable Bomb Next to US Embassy in Manila - Statement

Philippine police disabled an explosive device near the US diplomatic mission in Manila.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Philippine law enforcement has disabled an improvised explosive device found near the US diplomatic compound in Manila, the US embassy announced in a statement on Monday. 

"Philippine National Police authorities have confirmed that they have disabled an improvised explosive device found in a trash can approximately 250 meters south of US Embassy," the statement said. 

The US authorities said the area was cordoned immediately, and no one suffered any injuries. 

"An investigation into this incident is underway," the embassy added. 

The Philippine authorities have not yet determined what organization could be behind the attack attempt, according to the release. 

The US embassy advised Americans who are currently in the Philippines to review their travel plans and stay vigilant.
