News Story: US committed for Providing $180-m aid to PH in 2017

U.S. State Department spokesman John Kirby said the United States is committed to provide $180 million aid in fiscal year 2017 to the Philippines and routinely investigate the military known as “Leahy vetting” to ensure security units that violate human rights be deprived of such privilege.

Fiscal year 2017 is from Oct. 1, 2016 to Sept. 30, 2017.

“It’s a (Leahy) law we strongly believe in. And whether it’s in the Philippines or anywhere around the world, that review process is near continuous and it will remain so,” Kirby said.

“We continue to focus on our broad relationship with the Philippines and we’ll work together in the many areas of mutual interest,” he said.
