Fazel Hadi Muslimyar, chairman of the Meshrano Jirga (upper house of parliament), on Saturday said that the Taliban and Daesh operatives are undertaking insurgent activities in at least sixteen districts in Nangarhar province which has had repercussions on the peace and stability in the eastern province.
Muslimyar made the remarks during the inauguration of the new governor of Nangarhar.
Meanwhile, the newly appointed governor of Nangarhar Gulab Mangal has said that there is a need for comprehensive reforms to be initiated in the province.
"Today there is no security in at least sixteen districts including the center and we continue to grapple with security issues in almost 22 districts including the center, illegal armed men also walk around in the city freely," said Mangal.
Nangarhar MPs have said that the Taliban and Daesh have a grip on some areas in at least sixteen districts in the province.
"The situation in Nangarhar districts such Pacheragam is very critical," said one MP.
