News Story: How much is the total aid US gave to PH

As President Rodrigo Duterte continues courting some of Washington’s biggest rivals, – China and Russia – relationship between Philippines and United States are increasingly at risk, specially knowing that US has undeniably assisted Filipinos substantially in many ways.

In 2011, the Philippines was one of the pillars of the Obama Administration’s pivot to Asia, considerably, military assistance and foreign aid sent to Manila from Washington in recent years has been substantial.

Since 2012, Philippines procured nearly $1 billion worth of military equipment from the US, including two US Coast Guard cutters, and 12 FA-50 light fighter jets.

In 2015 alone, the Philippines received approximately $175 million in U.S. development assistance, and a total of $50 million in foreign military financing.
