In a telephone interview, Department of National Defense (DND) Undersecretary Raymundo Elefante, disclosed that DND is set to lease 5 TC9 long-range patrol aircraft to boost the capability of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) for aerial patrol and surveillance in the West Philippine Sea and other parts of the country.
“In the contract, we can lease and use the aircraft (from the stock of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Forces) as long we want to use them. There is no expiration,” Elefante said who is currently in Japan.
