News Story: (Afghanistan) Qahraman's Deadline Up But Helmand War Ongoing

Abdul Jabar Qahraman, the operative head of Helmand war, promised one week ago that he will end the war in seven days, Thursday, but this has not transpired and clashes are still ongoing in Lashkargah city - the capital city of the southern province.

Despite the promise, once again the second and third police district stations in Lashkargah city witnessed clashes between the insurgents and security forces on Wednesday night, officials said.

But Qahraman accepts that the war has not ended as he had promised.

"Lashkargah city has seen that we have done something and now the second phase of our plan is to clear the outskirts of the city of Taliban," Qahraman said.

However, Helmand people say that Qahraman's promise holds no ground.
