News Report: Series of Clashes in Myanmar's Rakhine State Result in 12 Deaths

Twelve people were killed in a series of clashed between armed men and the military in the Rakhine State of Myanmar, local media reported Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Tuesday, about 300 armed men attacked a military who conducted clearance operation in the city of Maungtaw, four military were killed and a body of an attacker was found after the clashes in the area, New Light of Myanmar reported. 

The military were also attacked by armed local residents during an operation in one of the villages in the state. After the incident, the military found seven bodies with swords and sticks near them, according to the newspaper notes. 

The paper notes that the military are currently continuing the clearance operations in the nearby villages.
