Janikhel district governor, Abdul Rahman Solamal, told TOLOnews in an interview, that a day after the collapse of Janikhel district in Paktia province to the Taliban no military operation had yet been been launched to recapture the district.
According to Solamal the neglect on the part of provincial officials and security institutions resulted in the collapse of Janikhel - which also resulted in the death of 30 security force members.
Solamal said however that the district had been under Taliban siege for the past thirty days but that the provincial leadership did not responded to his repeated calls for help.
