News Story: New Zealand and China pledge greater military cooperation

Senior defense officials from China and New Zealand pledged greater cooperation between their militaries on Monday.

In his meeting with New Zealand's defense minister, Gerry Brownlee, the vice chair of China's Central Military Commission, Fan Changlong, said the two countries enjoy strong ties that act as a case study of win-win cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.

At present, the two militaries are implementing the consensus reached by their leaders to deepen military cooperation to a new level, Fan said.
