BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Wednesday 13 May 2015 - The 3rd ASEAN Militaries Analyst-to-Analyst Intelligence Exchange (AMAAIE) was held at the Ministry of Defence, Brunei Darussalam and was attended by representatives from all ten ASEAN countries.
Themed “Towards a Collective Benefit: Perpetuating the Bonds of ASEAN Militaries through Intelligence Cooperation”, AMAAIE serves as a platform for information-sharing and also provides networking opportunities among analysts working within the defence and security fields in creating a more comprehensive picture of the regional security environment.
This platform is under the ambit of the ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces Informal Meeting (ACDFIM) Two-Year Work Plan, which is a series of confidence-building initiatives as well as practical cooperation activities in areas of shared concern, through the organising of meetings, workshops, seminars, interactions, exchanges and exercises by member countries.
The inaugural AMAAIE was held in the Philippines back in 2011. Malaysia is scheduled to host the next AMAAIE in 2016.
