News Story: Training underway for Taiwan Navy's new stealth missile corvette

The Taiwan Navy's first locally designed stealth missile corvette, described by Defense Minister Yen Ming as "the fastest, most powerful in Asia," got in some training hours as it was sailed to the Navy's largest port in southern Taiwan over the weekend.

The 502 ton corvette reached the Zuoying military harbor in Kaohsiung, Taiwan's largest naval port, on Dec. 28, after sailing out a day earlier from the naval port in Suao in northeastern Taiwan, the Navy said Wednesday.

"This was part of the combat and personnel training of the new corvette," the Navy told CNA, without elaborating further on the training process.

Photos of the corvette entering the Zuoying port were posted on the Ministry of National Defense spokesman's Facebook page earlier Wednesday.
