News Story: ROC Navy showcases new domestically made supply vessel


The ROC Navy showcased the medical functions of its newly acquired supply vessel Friday shortly after it formally took delivery of the vessel, which is expected to enhance Taiwan's combat capabilities at sea and ability to provide humanitarian assistance.

Called the Panshih, the vessel was formally turned over to the navy by local shipbuilder CSBC at a delivery ceremony in a harbor in Kaohsiung Friday.

The navy opened the new vessel up to the media shortly after the ceremony to give people a closer look at its medical facilities.

There is a small hospital on the ship that includes an operating room, a dental room, three regular wards and an isolation ward. It is stocked with advanced equipment, such as endoscopy devices and mobile X-ray machines.
