Minister for Defence, Senator David Johnston, today announced the signing of a multi million dollar contract to significantly improve Defence communications capability with Boeing Defence Australia (BDA).
“This contract – valued at more than $25-million – builds upon an initial concept further developed and tested by Ebor Computing, a South Australian based firm,” Minister Johnston said.
The work conducted with Ebor involved significant signal improvement and direction finding in support of High Frequency communications that will allow improved and more reliable communications world wide.
This capability will be delivered by BDA under Project Nullarbor. Ebor Computing will act as one of the subcontractors to BDA and is a great example of how larger firms can work successfully with smaller firms in Australia to innovate and create value.
“This contract is more proof that the Abbott Government is getting on with the important business of ensuring a safe and secure Australia. Importantly, this contract with BDA will also see substantial savings on the support of existing equipment,” Minister Johnston said.
Minister Johnston congratulated Boeing Defence Australia, Ebor Computing, Alcatel Lucent and the role of DMO in bringing this capability to maturity.
