Tensions have flared again between China and the US over the South China Sea issue at recent international summits including the fourth Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia in Shanghai, held May 20-21, and the Shangri-La Dialogue held from May 30-June 1 in Singapore.

China, though surprised by the move, is gearing up to hit back, according to the report.
