Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Russel will depart Washington, DC, April 6 for a visit to Thailand and Burma.
Arriving in Bangkok on April 7, Assistant Secretary Russel will meet with a range of leaders and stakeholders to discuss the political situation in Thailand, as well as consult on bilateral and regional issues.
Assistant Secretary Russel will travel to Burma April 9-10. On April 9, in Rangoon, he will meet with representatives from the international NGO community as well as civil society. Assistant Secretary Russel will then travel to Naypyidaw, arriving on April 10 to meet with senior Government of Burma officials.
Assistant Secretary Russel will return to Washington on April 11.
