MUARA, Saturday 5 April 2014 - Philippine Navy ship BRP Gregorio Del Pilar (PF-15) arrived in Brunei Darussalam for a four-day Goodwill Visit. The 115m ship is commanded by Commander Joe Anthony Orbe with a total number of crew of 124 personnel which will depart on 8 April 2014.
Rear Admiral Jesus Millan, Commander of the Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NAVFORWESMIN) and spouse will also be in Brunei to host a reception on board BRP Gregorio Del Pilar while docked at the Muara Commercial Port. He also scheduled to make courtesy calls to the Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Commander of Royal Brunei Navy.
Before coming to Brunei, the ship had also joined in the Multilateral Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief (HA/DR) Exercise Komodo 2014 in Batam, Indonesia (28 March 2014 – 3 April 2014).
PF-15 is one of the two Hamilton-class ships recently acquired by the Republic of the Philippines from the United States of America. The ship was commissioned by the Philippine Navy in December 2011. It was the second naval ship named after revolutionary General Gregorio Del Pilar, hero of the Battle of Tirad Pass.
