BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Wednesday 13 Nov 2013 - The consultative meetings of the Joint Defence Working Committee between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia continued with the 16th meeting held on Wednesday, 13 November 2013, in Bandar Seri Begawan.
The meeting was co-chaired by Colonel (Retd) Pg Dato Paduka Haji Azmansham bin Pg Haji Mohamad, Permanent Secretary (Defence Policy and Development), Ministry of Defence, Brunei Darussalam, and Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Sri Dr. Haji Ismail bin Ahmad, Secretary General, Ministry of Defence, Malaysia and was attended by officers from Ministry of Defence, Brunei Darussalam, Ministry of Defence, Malaysia, Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Malaysian Armed Forces.
During this meeting, the discussion focused on the recent position and development of defence cooperation between the two countries, including the direction for the future.
Other topics discussed were the provision of courses and training, visits, joint exercises, exchange of staff and personnel, as well as further discussions on the cooperation between the two ministries and the armed forces, i.e. Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Malaysian Armed Forces.
At the same time, the meeting also discussed the various means towards increasing opportunities for exploring and enhancing further the scope and areas of defence cooperation that is mutually beneficial for Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia.
