HONOLULU, Wednesday, 6 Nov 2013 – The 12th Joint Defence Working Committee (JDWC) between Brunei Darussalam and the United States of America was held at the US Pacific Command in Hawaii. The Meeting was co-chaired by Haji Adi Ihram bin DP Haji Mahmud, Acting Director of Defence Policy, Ministry of Defence and Captain Gregory St. Pierre, Southeast Asia Policy Division Chief, Pacific Command, United States.
Senior officers from the defence establishments and armed forces of both countries also attended the meeting.
This year’s JDWC continued to discuss the progress of military to military bilateral cooperation. Exchanges on defense topics of mutual interest include exploring new areas of cooperation to advance bilateral and as well as multilateral relationships.
The meeting strengthens mil-to-mil ties with the United States, fostering closer cooperation between the two armed forces including defense matters.
After the meeting, the Acting Director of Defence Policy also paid several courtesy calls on the Director for Strategic Planning and Policy, Major General Gregg A Sturdevant and the Deputy Commanding General of U.S Army Pacific, Major General Roger F. Mathews. A lunch was also hosted by the Director for Logistics Engineering and Security Cooperation, Headquarters, US Pacific Command, Brigadier General Mark M. Mcleod.
The delegation ended the meeting with a tour at the Kanahoe Bay Naval Aviation Facilities and the USS Missouri at Pearl Harbour.
