MUARA, Monday 28 Oct 2013 – After completed a 52-day deployment, KDB DARULAMAN has safely arrived at Muara Naval Base this afternoon after participating in ADMM Plus Maritime Security Field Training Exercise (ADMM PLUS MS FTX) in Jervis Bay and Royal Australian Navy International Fleet Review (RAN IFR) in Sydney, both in Australia earlier this month.
Welcoming the arrival of KDB DARULAMAN was First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy.
ADMM PLUS MS FTX is one of the initiatives taken by the ADMM PLUS members to strengthen and improve the collaboration and understanding between respective members in overcoming the maritime security challenges which was co-hosted by Australia and Malaysia. The exercise was mainly maritime interdiction operations but also includes boarding exercises and Critical Contact Of Interest (CCOI) tracking. It was then followed by International Fleet Review hosted by Royal Australian Navy so as to mark the 100th year anniversary of first RAN Fleet ships coming into Sydney Harbour.
Royal Brunei Navy participation at ADMM PLUS MS FTX this year marked another significant milestone for Royal Brunei Navy to being a regional player in ensuring security and prosperity of our maritime domain.
KDB DARULAMAN under the command of Maj (L) Willie bin Padan has also managed to stop by at Surabaya as part of the planned track back to Brunei. As part of the goodwill visit, Commanding Officer KDB DARULAMAN, Major (L) Willie bin Padan, paid courtesy calls to Second Assistant of Economics and Development as the representative to the Mayor of Surabaya and also to the Commander of Eastern Fleet, Indonesia Navy (PANGARMATIM), Rear Admiral Agung Pramono, on 21 & 22 October 2013 respectively. In attendance during both calls was the Brunei Defence Attache to Indonesia, Lieutenant Colonel Haslen bin Hj Hassan. KDB DARULAMAN also hosted a reception two days before leaving Surabaya and continue the journey back to Brunei.
KDB DARULAMAN completed the 52-day deployment covering a total distance in excess of 9,400 nautical miles where along the way took the opportunity to conduct high sea navigation training and ships husbandary for the 69 personnel onboard including officers and men.
Also present at the welcoming ceremony in the Muara Naval Base today were senior officers, officers, personnel of RBN and family members of KDB DARULAMAN ship’s crew.
