Brunei: JERVIS BAY WELCOMES INTERNATIONAL WARSHIPS


AUSTRALIA, Sunday 29 Sept 2013 - KDB DARULAMAN is among one of the many warships that has arrived at Jervis Bay, Australia to participate in ADMM-PLUS Maritime Security Field Training Exercise prior to her participation in the Royal Australian Navy International Fleet Review (IFR) scheduled from the 4th till 8th October 2013 in Sydney.

The four-day (29th Sept – 2nd Oct 2013) exercise which was officiated by both co-host Commodore Peter Leavy COMWAR, Australian Armed Forces and RADM Dato Nasaruddin – J3, JFHQ, Malaysian Armed Forces at HMAS CRESWELL, will focus on maritime security interoperability between participating navies involving joint lateral and vertical boarding operation in tandem with the ADMM-PLUS maritime security arrangement.  It equally aim to build confidence and mutual understanding in multilateral operations, supporting international engagement and to provide substantial fleet training opportunities via exchange of professional views on maritime security, info sharing and procedures. 

The ADMM-PLUS MS FTX Exercise gather participants from China, India, New Zealand, US, ASEAN members. Australia and Malaysia as co-host of the exercise.

Welcoming reception for the visiting dignitaries and foreign naval warship crew was also hosted by the Royal Australian Chief of Navy Vice Admiral Ray Griggs AO, CSC.

Boarding demonstrations were also conducted onboard HMNZS TE MANA and JS MAKINAKI which was witnessed by senior officials, dignitaries and members of ADMM-PLUS Expert Working Group (EWG) on Maritime Security in which, the Brunei Darussalam delegation was led by Haji Adi Ihram bin Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud, Acting Director of Defence Policy, Directorate of Defence Policy of the Ministry of Defence and also attended by Colonel (L) Pg Norazmi bin Pg Haji Mohamad, Deputy Commander Royal Brunei Navy. Brunei Darussalam and New Zealand will co-chair the next EWG on Maritime Security starting April 2014.
