Sri Lanka: SLNS Suranimala sails for Karachchi to take part in Multi-national Naval Exercise AMAN- 13

Sri Lanka Navy’s Fast Missile Vessel “Suranimala” is sailing for Karachchi in Pakistan to take part in the Multi-national Naval Exercise, “AMAN-13”, which is scheduled to be held from 04th to 08th March 2013.

The aim of the exercise is to draw the attention towards non-traditional threats such as maritime terrorism, piracy and narco-arms trafficking and to enhance interoperability among regional Navies. Seventeen foreign Navies are expected to take part in the exercise.

Maritime security and regional harmony are common goals of maritime nations and they can be achieved through collaborative maritime security. To deal with the growing maritime security challenges, one needs to anticipate threats and develop strategies for building cooperation and trust at both regional and international levels. In this context, Pakistan Navy organizes the major multi-national exercise, AMAN, every alternate year under the theme “Together for Peace”.
