China's first aircraft carrier, Liaoning, returned to its home port of Dalian on Oct. 30 after half a month of further sea trials, reports the Global Times, a tabloid operated under the auspices of the Chinese Communist Party.
These were the first trials for the carrier since it was commissioned last month. On Sept. 25, Liaoning was turned over to the PLA Navy by the shipyard in the northeastern city where it had spent a number of years undergoing a refit.
The carrier left Dalian on Oct. 3 to carry out touch-and-go landing drills at sea for the J-15 carrier-based fighter.
