Sydney, Australia – BAE Systems has successfully negotiated a five year extension to the Australian Military Airspace Control Communications System (AMACCS) support contract.
This was achieved by renegotiating the contract to deliver a more cost-effective solution consistent with the Strategic Reform Program (SRP).
The SRP initiatives are expected to deliver the Commonwealth over 10% savings over the contract period.
These savings were achieved by analysing the project practices and streamlining processes using LEAN principles, and leveraging 10 years of experience gained on AMACCS.
The contract is valued at AUD $11.5 million.
AMACCS provides in service support to the RAAF’s ground to air radio assets and is installed in the following segments - air traffic control, air weapons ranges, pilot monitoring facilities, air defence ground environment (ADGE) and some remote Airservices Australia sites.
The contract extension also included additional scope valued at AUD $1.6 million which included training and engineering services for through life support at no additional cost.

With several major projects listed in the Defence Capability Plan in the air traffic management and Air Defence Ground sector, BAE Systems hopes to leverage the experience gained on AMACCS to offer the Commonwealth value for money in-country integration and support services on future projects.
