CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (April 11, 2012) – Data Link Solutions (DLS), a joint venture between Rockwell Collins and BAE Systems, has been awarded a $5.4 million contract by the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) for production of Multifunctional Information Distribution System - Low Volume Terminals (MIDS-LVT) for the Taiwan ground Link-16 Program.

The MIDS-LVT(2/11) is specifically designed to simplify installation into the U.S. Army Patriot Information Coordination Central (ICC) and Battery Command Posts, Forward Area Air Defense Command and Control Units (FAAD C2), and Surface Launched AMRAAM (SLAM RAAM) as well as USAF Air Operations Centers (AOC) and Joint Interface Control Officer (JICO) Support Systems. The MIDS-LVT(2) is identical to the MIDS-LVT(11) except for the added feature of voice control capability.
MIDS-LVT was developed by a multinational consortium to provide Link-16 capability at a lower weight, volume and cost than the Joint Tactical Information Distribution System. Link-16 provides real-time data communications, situational awareness and navigation, and in some cases, digital voice and TACAN, all in a jam-resistant, crypto-secured package.
