News Story: (AUS) Sub parts to be built outside South Australia

THE Gillard government has dealt a blow to South Australia's defence industry, conceding key components and modules of the $35 billion future submarine project will be built outside of the state.

"As was the case with the Collins Class submarines and the Air Warfare Destroyer projects, it is expected that the Future Submarines project will be assembled from components and possibly modules manufactured in a number of locations around Australia and overseas," Senator Evans said in response to a question on notice in parliament.
