In order to deter enemy provocations and defend western border islands in case of an attack, cabinet meeting deliberated and approved a bill to establish a defense command headquarters of the western border islands on June 7.
Presided over by the Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik at the central government complex in Seoul, the cabinet meeting passed a new bill to build the defense command headquarters on the island.
The bill includes details of command structure, mission, roles of commanders, subordinate units and their functions.
In addition, the cabinet meeting approved a revised bill to begin recruiting male cadets in the Armed Forces Nursing Academy next year in order to satisfy the demand of male nursing officers.
