PEARL HARBOR (March 11, 2011) - Navy Region Hawaii and Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific reported no incidents at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam and Pacific Missile Range Facility Barking Sands after the first wave passed shortly after 3 a.m. Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam personnel are expected to report to work after an all-clear is declared. Personnel with questions should contact their supervisors.
Pearl Harbor-based ships remained inport, along with the visiting aircraft carrier, USS Abraham Lincoln. The Army logistics support vessel, CW3 Harold C. Clinger, sortied due to its berth near the mouth of the harbor.
A half-meter surge was detected at Pearl Harbor. The Ford Island bridge was closed at as a precaution and was subsequently reopened. No housing areas at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam were evacuated.
At Pacific Missile Range Facility, personnel were ordered to evacuate. Two helicopters were moved to Lihue, and two C-26s are currently airborne. Three torpedo retrievers based at Port Allen were sortied.
The Navy remains alert and will continue to monitor the situation until an all-clear is declared.
