The Navy pledges its support to the new Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Lieutenant General Eduardo San Lorenzo Oban Jr AFP. The Navy is four-square behind the new AFP Chief.

Rear Admiral Alexander P Pama AFP vows its full and unqualified support to the new AFP Chief, and to the reforms, peace, and modernization initiatives drawn by the AFP in strengthening unity among the ranks, and to its new security plan, the Internal Peace and Security Plan or “Bayanihan”.

On reforms, the Navy is one with the AFP in adhering to the judicious use of its resources to ensure that projects and priority programs intended for mission accomplishment and welfare of men are completed. It has a built-in anti-corruption mechanism to ensure that transparency and accountability are practiced by Sailors and Marines, including its civilian workforce, and preclude wrongdoings in the ranks.

On peace, the Navy will intensify its CMO activities in touching people’s lives in the countryside through medical missions and infrastructure projects. This is in keeping with the IPSP as the new blueprint in winning the peace versus the communist insurgents. The Navy commits its forces for the realization of a peaceful Philippines through its Fleet-Marine Team, and will work with the rest of the AFP in assisting the government’s economic agenda and peace initiatives.

On modernization, the Navy is now presented with an opportunity to carry out its long-stalled modernization through a public-private partnership, an out-of-the box solution to source funds with which to acquire the much-needed platforms and equipment for the Fleet and the Marines. Rear Admiral Pama has also called for the enhancement of the Navy’s capabilities through the acquisition of various naval assets, equipment, and facilities. This year, the Navy is set to acquire a Hamilton class vessel from the US Coast Guard to boost its capability in patrolling the country’s vast territorial waters.

The Navy will continue to uphold the AFP’s constitutional mandate to protect the people and the State. The Navy is one with the AFP in its aspiration of restoring the utmost confidence and faith the Filipino people have in their armed forces.
