News Story: Yasay flies to US amid Dutertes stinging remarks

Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay flew to the United States for a flurry of activities including a ‘private dinner’ with Secretary of State John Kerry – amid President Rodrigo Duterte uses public forums to air his views on an ‘independent foreign policy’ that seems to de-emphasize America’s relations with the Philippines.

DFA spokesman Assistant Secretary Charles Jose said Yasay will be attending the private dinner for all visiting heads of state, foreign ministers that Kerry will be hosting. Most of the visitors are attending the United Nations annual assembly in New York.
