News Story: Myanmar-appointed advisory commission submits final report on Rakhine state to president

NAY PYI TAW, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's government-appointed Advisory Commission on Rakhine State, chaired by former Secretary-General of the United Nations Kofi Annan, submitted its final report to President U Htin Kyaw on Wednesday, official sources said.

The report aiming at the emergence of peaceful, just and prosperous future for residents in Rakhine state was handed over to U Htin Kyaw when the commission made a courtesy call on the president.

The details of the report will be released in Yangon on Thursday, the sources added.

Annan, who arrived in Nay Pyi Taw Tuesday, is also scheduled to have talks with State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi later on Wednesday on the release of the commission's final report on Rakhine state. according to earlier report.

Aung San Suu Kyi is the chair of the Central Committee for Implementation of Peace, Stability and Development in Rakhine state.
