News Story: Indonesia, Vietnam agree to boost economic, maritime cooperation

JAKARTA, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- The governments of Indonesia and Vietnam agreed to deepen strategic partnership by enhancing and strengthening cooperation in the fields of economy, maritime and law.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo met with the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong at the State Palace on Wednesday.

President Widodo said that as both countries have had strong ties since more than 60 years ago, Nguyen Phu Trong's visit would give new spirit to the bilateral ties of the nations.

Indonesia and Vietnam agreed to establish strategic partnership in 2013.
