Edgar Matobato, a Senate witness claiming on Thursday that the tough-talking leader Rodrigo Duterte ordered him to kill then human rights chairperson and now Senator Leila de Lima, reports Dharel Placido a journalist of ABS-CBN News.
De Lima was visiting an alleged dumping ground in 2009 for victims of the infamous Davao Death Squad in Ma-a, Davao City when Edgar Matobato and his team – who claims to be a part of the death squad – attempted to kill de Lima as ordered by Duterte ordered his team to.
However, Matobato said the plan to kill de Lima did not push through. He said he and his team would have killed de Lima if only the latter reached a certain part of the hilly site.
