News Story: Indonesian President sails to South China Sea on warship

On Thursday, June 23 – a Cabinet meeting was held on board the same navy warship that clashed last week with Chinese fishing vessels – headed by Indonesian President Joko Widodo during his visit in Natuna Islands.

The voyage was intended to warn China that the Natunas, including waters around them, are part of Indonesia’s territory. “The Natunas are part of Indonesia’s sovereignty and that is final,” Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung told journalists on Wednesday.

Along with President Jokowi, Pramono, his Chief Security Minister, Foreign Minister, Fisheries Minister, military chief and others sailed to the Natunas.
