Brunei: KDB DARULAMAN SETS SAIL FOR SYDNEY


MUARA, Monday 9 Sept 2013 - KDB DARULAMAN sailed from Muara Naval Base this morning to partake in the ADMM-Plus Maritime Security Field Training Exercise (FTX) followed by the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) International Fleet Review (IFR) in Sydney, Australia commemorating the centenary of the first entry of the RAN Fleet into Sydney. With a total crew of 69 personnel, the deployment is lead by the Commanding Officer, Major (L) Willie bin Padan.   The deployment will take almost two months passing through the Celebes Sea to the Coral Sea in Australia, and on the passage back via the Timor Sea and Java Sea with a total distance in excess of 9,400 nautical miles.  

KDB DARULAMAN will stop in Brisbane, Australia for a compulsory customs clearance. This will also be an avenue for exercise coordination with 14 foreign navies taking part in the FTX. KDB DARULAMAN will depart Brisbane for Jervis Bay, Australia in company with other exercise participants, and upon arrival will be involved in the ADMM-Plus Maritime Security Field Training Exercise, which is mainly maritime interdiction operations but also includes boarding exercises and Critical Contact Of Interest (CCOI) tracking.

By 5 October, KDB DARULAMAN will be joining 42 other foreign warships, 16 tall ships and 3 civilian ships from 14 countries for the Royal Australian Navy International Fleet Review in Sydney. The 2013 RAN IFR will be reviewed by Her Excellency Quentin Bryce, the Governor-General of Australia during a sail pass of participating ships at anchor. KDB DARULAMAN will depart Sydney on 8 October and will stop in Surabaya, Indonesia for a logistical stop and also for a goodwill visit enroute to Muara. KDB DARULAMAN is scheduled to arrive in Brunei on 28 October 2013.

Present to bid farewell was Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Commander of RBAF, Colonel (L) Pg Norazmi bin Pg Muhammad, Acting Commander of RBN, RBN officers and men as well as families of the crew.
