BOLKIAH GARRISON, Monday 3 June 2013 – The Ministry of Defence this morning received a visit from Chief of Staff, Joint Staff, Japan Self Defence Forces, His Excellency General Shigeru Iwasaki at Bolkiah Garrison.
Upon arrival, His Excellency was accorded with a Guard of Honour mounted by personnel from the First Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force. After reviewing the Guard of Honour, His Excellency proceeded to pay a courtesy call on the Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.
Also present were RBAF Deputy Commander, Services Commanders, Joint Force Commander, RBAF Training Institute Commandant, Directors and RBAF senior officers.
The visit significantly aims in continuing the long established bilateral relations and explore areas of military cooperation between both countries.
His Excellency and spouse, Mrs Toshiko Iwasaki as well as delegates were in Brunei Darussalam for three day introductory visit. While in the Sultanate, His Excellency and delegates will be visiting RBAF Defence Academy at Sungai Akar, RBAF Third Battalion at Lumut Camp and area for the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus) Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief and Military Medicine Exercise (HADR & MM Ex).
