Taiwan will not share information gathered by its new early-warning surveillance radar system with the United States, once the system is completed by the enf of the year, a defense official said Monday.
Located at a military base in Hsinchu county, the long-range system will be a closed network and the military "will not offer" related information to the US, said Lieutenant General Liu Shi-lay, an official with the Ministry of National Defense's unit responsible for communication, electronics and information.
Liu made the remarks in response to concerns raised by ruling Kuomintang legislator Lu Shiow-yen that Taiwan's military will provide information collected by the radar system to the US.
