Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen met with Australian Minister for Defence Stephen Smith in Canberra, Australia today, on the sidelines of the 7th Meeting of the Singapore - Australia Joint Ministerial Committee (SAJMC). During the bilateral meeting between the two defence ministers, Mr Smith and Dr Ng discussed key issues of mutual concern, and reaffirmed the close and long-standing bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and Australia. Both parties also reaffirmed the strong operational cooperation between the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Australian Defence Force (ADF). The Ministers welcomed the strong partnership forged between the SAF and the ADF in the course of their contributions to the multinational stabilisation and reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan.
