News Story: U.S. Senators Ask Trump To Announce Afghanistan Strategy

A number of U.S. Republican senators have expressed their concerns over Afghan war, saying that the situation in Afghanistan will turn ten times worse than Iraq if the country is not considered seriously by the Trump administration.

In a chat with reporters on Thursday, Senator Lindsey Graham said he expects Trump administration to change its strategy in fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan or will face failure.

“We need more troops, General Nicholson I think has done a fine job from my point of view, but President Trump is going to make a decision and he will own it,” Graham said. “If you do not add capability to the fight, is going to get worse not better. What you saw in Iraq is going to happen in Afghanistan tenfold. It’s a place now where an international terrorism is on the rise. ISIL (Daesh) has a foothold we're trying to dislodge them.”

American well-known senator, John McCain in a statement reacted over possibility of dismissal of Gen. John Nicholson, U.S. forces commander in Afghanistan, and said Nicholson is not responsible for America’s failure in Afghanistan war, but instead U.S former president Barak Obama and U.S. president Donald Trump are responsible for what is happening in Afghanistan.
