News Story: 2 soldiers killed in landmine blast in NW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- At least two Pakistani soldiers were killed and three others injured in a landmine blast in the country's northwest tribal region of South Waziristan on Sunday, said a military statement.

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), a mouthpiece of Pakistan army, said that the incident took place when a roadside planted landmine explosion hit a military vehicle in Barmal area of South Waziristan, a tribal region bordering Afghanistan.

The forces'vehicle was patrolling the area during a search operation by the army when it struck a landmine.

Two personnel died on the spot while three others were critically injured as their vehicle was completely destroyed in the incident.
