"India is seriously concerned by reports of renewed violence and attacks by terrorists in northern Rakhine State Myanmar. We are deeply saddened at the loss of lives among members of the Myanmar security forces. Such attacks deserve to be condemned in the strongest possible terms," the statement read.
The spokesman expressed hope that perpetrators would be brought to justice, adding that India was offering support to the government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
More than 70 people were killed on Friday in coordinated attacks on security posts and military bases in the state of Rakhine. State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi strongly condemned the attacks.
Rakhine often suffers from clashes between Myanmar's Muslims and Buddhists. The conflict flared up in 2012 with a series of riots, with yet another escalation beginning last year.
