By Nabilla Ashrafi

As part of their “Uprising for Change Campaign” protestors on Wednesday established their sixth camp at Shaheed Square in Kabul’s PD10 area – closing the road to the Hamid Karzai International Airport.

Despite their sit-ins being peaceful, these camps have created serious problems for Kabul’s traffic across the city.

In addition, government has closed all roads which lead to the Presidential Palace.

“The camps which has been established as part of the campaign to seek justice (for the 150 people killed in a truck bombing last week), are located in important places in order to put more pressure on government to accept the protestors demands,” said Murtaza Jalali, one demonstrator.

Firefighting forces and more than 10 police vehicles have meanwhile been tasked to ensure the safety of the protestors in Shaheed Square but the move has created heavy traffic jams in the area.

“All roads are closed and those who had patients could not get them to hospitals due to road closures,” said Azizullah, a taxi driver.
