News Story: Myanmar, China pledge to deepen ties

NAY PYI TAW, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar and China have vowed to further deepen bilateral relations between the two neighbors.

When meeting with Fang Fenghui, member of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) and chief of the Joint Staff Department under the CMC on Thursday in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi said she had met Chinese President Xi Jinping on several occasions and they reached many consensus on development of bilateral ties.

Myanmar has actively responded to the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, and quite a few bilateral cooperative projects under the initiative have already yielded fruits.

The state counselor noted that China had played an active role in Myanmar's successful convention of the 21st Century Panglong Peace Conference recently. She said Myanmar is committed to working with China to safeguard peace and stability in their border areas.
