News Story: McMaster Calls Ghani In Wake Of Attacks, Reiterates U.S’s Support

The U.S National Security Advisor Lieutenant General H. R. McMaster's reportedly called President Ashraf Ghani on Monday and reiterated the U.S’s support for the National Unity Governement (NUG) following recent attacks in Kabul, the White House said in a statement.

“U.S National Security Advisor Lieutenant General H. R. McMaster spoke with President Ashraf Ghani of Afghanistan today. Lieutenant General McMaster expressed the deepest sympathies of the United States for the barbaric attacks in Kabul last week,” according to the statement.

McMaster also condemned the “terrorist attacks in the strongest terms” and noted that the U.S stands in solidarity with the Afghan government and people.

“Lieutenant General McMaster underscored America's steadfast support for the National Unity Government, and he recognized that because terrorists are seeking to divide the Afghan people, it is more important than ever, in the face of such adversity, to remain united and be strong in our resolve to achieve the security and peace that the people of Afghanistan deserve,” the statement said.
