News Story: Malaysia, Australia join hands in IS prevention

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia and Australia will share intelligence on militants in Southeast Asia as the two allies brace for the possible return of Islamic State (IS) militants from Iraq, said Malaysian Defence Minister Hishamummddin Hussein on March 14.

Speaking to the press after meeting Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, he said that Australia agreed to provide technical support and equipment to tackle the increasing threat of IS in the region, including the Abu Sayyaf militant group who pledged allegiance to IS.
