Japan vows to tighten sanctions on DPRK
TOKYO, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Japan announced on Friday to tighten its unilateral sanctions on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), following United Nations Security Council's adoption of a tougher-than-ever resolution against the DPRK on Wednesday.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told a meeting attended by cabinet ministers that the DPRK carried out two nuclear tests this year and launched more than 20 ballistic missiles.
It presents "a new level of threat and such outrageous acts are absolutely unacceptable," said Abe.
According to the revised sanctions, Japan will expand the scope of asset freeze program for individuals and groups related to Pyongyang's nuclear or missile projects.

China opposes unilateral sanctions beyond UN specifications
BEIJING, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- China on Friday said that it has always been opposed to any country's unilateral sanctions against other nations, which are over and above those specified in UN Security Council restrictive measures.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang made the remarks when commenting on reports saying that the Republic of Korea and Japan announced Friday plans to increase sanctions against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in response to DPRK's nuclear test in September.
Geng added that China has been even more strongly opposed to unilateral sanctions that could harm China's fair and lawful interests.
