by Anisa Shahid

Sources close to the National Unity Government (NUG) have said the leaders will establish two selection committees in order to appoint military and political staff for government departments.

Sources said representatives of President Ashraf Ghani and CEO Abdullah Abdullah and their deputies will be included in the committees and said once these have been established, the rifts between the president and CEO will decrease.

Sources also said a political committee chaired by Mohammad Sarwar Danish, second vice president, held its first session on Sunday.

Mohammadullah Batash, Minister of Transport (MoT); Mohammad Khan, first deputy of CEO; Mustafa Mastor, deputy of former finance minister, and two others are members of the commission.

According to the sources, a security committee will also start its work under the chairmanship of Amrullah Saleh, former head of the National Directorate of Security (NDS), in which Sayed Mohammad Gulabzoy, a former military officer, Afzal Lodin, a member of National Security Council (NSC) and two other people will be members.

The committees will first identify the most competent people and will then introduce them to NUG leaders to be appointed in key military and political positions.
