INDONESIA, JAKARTA, Thursday 24 November 2016 - The Ministry of Defence of Brunei Darussalam and the Ministry of Defence of Republic of Indonesia this morning convened the 2nd Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting in Republic of Indonesia.
The meeting was co-chaired by Vice Admiral TNI Widodo, Secretary General, Ministry of Defence, Indonesia and Captain (Rtd) Abd Rahman bin BMDP Haji Bakar, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Brunei Darussalam.
Also present during the meeting were Haji Adi Ihram bin DP Haji Mahmud, Acting Director, Directorate of Defence Policy and Brunei Darussalam’s Defence Attaché to the Republic of Indonesia
Defence officials from the two countries exchanged perspectives on regional maritime security matters. The two sides also examined avenues to further promote Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia bilateral defence relations.
The JDCC between Brunei Darussalam and Republic of Indonesia was established through the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on defence cooperation signed in 2003. The next JDCC meeting will be held in Brunei Darussalam.
