Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte had an unconventional mandate and the world should not meddle in his crackdown on crime, Foreign Minister Perfecto Yasay pronounced before the delegates in the United Nations General Assembly on Saturday.

Duterte is “determined to free the Philippines from corrupt and other stagnating practices, including the manufacture, distribution and use of illicit drugs,” Yasay said, noting that the Duterte administration’s “actions, however, have grabbed both the national headlines and international attention for all the wrong reasons.”
