News Report: Afghan Forces Foil Suicide Attack in Southeastern Paktika Province

The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) prevented a mined vehicle suicide attack in southeastern Paktika province, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release on Sunday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — No militant group has taken responsibility for the attack attempt.

"The group had planned to launch a terrorist attack in Paktika province. Afghan National Security Forces confiscated one suicide vest, three AK-47 rifles, two pistols, five radio handsets, one explosives laden vehicle and some amount of light and heavy round of ammunition," the press release read adding, that at least nine militants were killed. 

Afghanistan is in a state of political and social turmoil, with government forces fighting the continuing Taliban insurgency, while other extremist groups, such as Daesh terrorists have also expanded their activities both in the country and in neighboring states.
